Connect your domain: DNS guides by provider
Two records (an A and a CNAME) at the company that holds your domain. Remo never asks for your password; you add them yourself, following the screens of your provider. Your account shows the same guide with your own domain and the exact values.
DreamHost
panel.dreamhost.com → Websites → Manage Websites → ⋮ under your domain → DNS Settings
1. Open Manage Websites
Go to panel.dreamhost.com and sign in. Click Websites → Manage Websites.2. Remove the SSL certificate
If yourbusiness.com has an SSL certificate: ⋮ under the domain → SSL Security → Remove Certificate → tick the box → Proceed with Certificate Removal. DreamHost won't release the A records while it holds one; your new site gets its own certificate. No certificate? Skip.3. Set the domain to DNS Only
Manage → Settings → Non-Hosting Options → Set to DNS Only → Yes, Set to DNS Only. Your files and email stay (DreamPress only: the files are deleted; back up first).4. Add the A record
⋮ → DNS Settings → Add Record → A Record → ADD. Host: leave blank. Points to147.182.236.145. Add Record.5. Add the www CNAME
Add Record → CNAME Record → ADD. Hostwww. Points tosites.remobuilds.com. Add Record.6. Come back and check
Press Check my domain here: DreamHost says several hours.
Watch out
- Never delete or edit MX or TXT rows: that is your email. Leave an A row named mail alone too.
- The A records of @ and www are 'DNS-hosting records' you can't edit until the domain is set to DNS Only.
- DNS Only and hosting files at DreamHost exclude each other: files on a hosting plan stay but aren't served.
- DreamHost email (mx1/mx2.dreamhost.com) keeps working: don't touch the MX rows.
Set to DNS Only is greyed out
Remove the SSL certificate first (step 2), then try again.
I'm on DreamPress
Setting DNS Only deletes the DreamPress files: back up first, or tell me in the chat.
