Connect your domain: DNS guides by provider
Two records (an A and a CNAME) at the company that holds your domain. Remo never asks for your password; you add them yourself, following the screens of your provider. Your account shows the same guide with your own domain and the exact values.
IONOS
ionos.com → Menu → Domains & SSL → your domain → Actions (three dots, or a gear) → DNS
1. Open the DNS page of your domain
Go to ionos.com and sign in. Click Menu in the title bar → Domains & SSL (some screens say Domain & SSL). Find yourbusiness.com; under Actions click the three dots (on some screens a gear) → DNS.2. Disconnect the domain if the buttons are greyed out
Greyed-out buttons mean the domain is connected to the IONOS website builder (MyWebsite) or to an App Center app. Builder: Menu → Websites & Stores → Manage Website → next to Domain click the action icon → Disconnect Domain; it must now read No domain connected. App (Click & Build WordPress): Websites & Stores → Manage website → gear next to Domain → Change domain and pick another domain or subdomain first. Then come back to DNS. Buttons already active? Skip this step.3. Edit the A record for the root
There must be exactly one A record for the root domain (Host name @ or empty). On that row, under Actions click the pencil → Edit record. In Points to replace the address with147.182.236.145. Leave TTL. Click Save. A second A record for the root? Delete it.4. Make sure www exists as a subdomain
Back in Domains & SSL, under Actions → Manage subdomains. If www isn't listed, click Create Subdomain, typewww, Save. Listed already? Go on.5. Add the www CNAME
Back in DNS for yourbusiness.com: Add record → CNAME. Host namewww. Points tosites.remobuilds.com(no http://, no slash, no trailing dot). Save. If IONOS refuses because an A record for www already exists, delete that record first, then add the CNAME.6. Come back and check
Press Check my domain here. IONOS applies the change at once; the rest of the internet usually follows within an hour, rarely longer. Your IONOS email keeps working: these two records don't touch it.
Watch out
- Never delete or edit MX or TXT rows: that is your email. Leave an A row named mail alone too.
- Only one A record for the root. IONOS can't change the Host name of an existing A record: edit its Points to.
- Never click Reset domain: it resets nameservers, A/AAAA, TXT, SRV and MX records at once and can't be undone (it breaks Google or Microsoft email).
- A CNAME never goes on the root domain.
- Changing nameservers makes IONOS lose control of the records and your email stops: never.
- Labels drift between IONOS pages (DNS / DNS Settings, Points to / Point to, three dots / gear): trust what you see.
The DNS buttons are greyed out
The domain is connected to the website builder or to an app: disconnect it first (step 2), then edit.
I don't see Manage subdomains
Add the CNAME anyway; if IONOS refuses, tell me in the chat what it says.
Will my IONOS email stop?
No: IONOS says the inboxes and other services for the domain continue unchanged when only these records change.
