Connect your domain: DNS guides by provider
Two records (an A and a CNAME) at the company that holds your domain. Remo never asks for your password; you add them yourself, following the screens of your provider. Your account shows the same guide with your own domain and the exact values.
Namecheap
namecheap.com → Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Host Records
1. Open your domain
Go to namecheap.com and click Sign In. In the left sidebar click Domain List, then Manage next to yourbusiness.com.2. Check the Nameservers box
On the Domain tab look at Nameservers. It should say Namecheap BasicDNS, PremiumDNS or FreeDNS. If it says Namecheap Web Hosting DNS, your records live in cPanel: tell me in the chat and I'll switch to those steps. If it says Custom DNS, they live at another company: tell me its name.3. Delete the parking rows for @
Click the Advanced DNS tab. Under Host Records look at every row with Host @. If there is an ALIAS Record or a URL Redirect Record for @, click the trash bin next to it. A redirect keeps a hidden A record that only goes away with the redirect; an ALIAS blocks any A record for the same host. No such rows? Go on.4. Set the A record for @
If a row Type A Record, Host @ is left, change its Value to147.182.236.145. If there is none, click Add New Record: Type A Record, Host@, Value147.182.236.145, TTL Automatic. Click the green check to save the row.5. Point www with a CNAME
Find the row with Host www. If it's a CNAME Record (new domains come with one pointing to parkingpage.namecheap.com), change its Value tosites.remobuilds.com. If it's an A Record or an ALIAS Record, delete it, then Add New Record: Type CNAME Record, Hostwww, Valuesites.remobuilds.com, TTL Automatic. Green check.6. Save, and remove any redirect
Make sure exactly ONE row is left for Host @ and ONE for Host www (in Host type only @ or www, never the domain name). Click Save All Changes if it's showing. Then open the Domain tab: under Redirect Domain, remove any redirect listed.7. Come back and check
Don't touch the row named mail, the MX rows, the TXT rows or the Mail Settings box. Press Check my domain here. Namecheap says new records take about 30 minutes.
Watch out
- Never delete or edit MX or TXT rows: that is your email. Leave an A row named mail alone too.
- Every new Namecheap domain comes with a URL Redirect for @ and a CNAME www → parkingpage.namecheap.com: delete the redirect, edit the CNAME.
- Namecheap saves row by row: a row isn't saved until you click its green check (or Save All Changes).
- Host Records only exist with BasicDNS, PremiumDNS or FreeDNS; with Web Hosting DNS the records live in cPanel's Zone Editor, with Custom DNS at the other company.
- EasyWP puts an ALIAS on @: delete it before the A record can be added.
- Never put a CNAME on @.
The Nameservers box says Web Hosting DNS
Your records live in cPanel: Hosting List → Go to cPanel → Domains → Zone Editor → Manage. Tell me in the chat and I'll walk you through those screens.
It says Custom DNS
The records live at the company whose nameservers are listed. Tell me their names and I'll switch the steps; don't change them.
Will my email break?
Not from these two rows. Private Email, Google, Microsoft and Zoho don't depend on the A of @. Mail on Namecheap's own shared hosting only breaks if someone edits the mail row, the MX rows or Mail Settings.
I use Email Forwarding
Keep the Mail Settings box as it is; forwarding keeps working.
