Connect your domain: DNS guides by provider
Two records (an A and a CNAME) at the company that holds your domain. Remo never asks for your password; you add them yourself, following the screens of your provider. Your account shows the same guide with your own domain and the exact values.
Squarespace
account.squarespace.com/domains → your domain → DNS → DNS Settings → Custom Records
1. Sign in to Squarespace Domains
Go to account.squarespace.com/domains and sign in. Bought the domain at Google Domains or through Google Workspace? Click Continue with Google and pick the Google account you used there. Click yourbusiness.com. Don't cancel your Squarespace website yet: point the domain first, cancel later.2. Remove domain forwarding, if any
Click Website. Under Domain Forwarding, if a rule exists, click the trash can next to it, enter your password (or 2FA code) and continue. Squarespace won't let you edit DNS while a forwarding rule is active. No rule? Go on.3. Check the nameservers
Click DNS, then Domain Nameservers. It must say Squarespace nameservers. If it shows custom nameservers, stop and tell me in the chat: your records live at that other company. Don't click Use Squarespace nameservers on your own.4. Delete the Squarespace Defaults
Click DNS → DNS Settings. Next to Squarespace Defaults click the red trash can. Enter your password (or 2FA code), click Continue, then Delete. That group is what points the domain at the Squarespace site; it can't be edited row by row. No Squarespace Defaults on your screen? Go on.5. Add the A record
Scroll to Custom Records. Click Add record (on some screens just Add), enter your password or code, Continue. Type A, Name@, IP Address147.182.236.145. Leave Priority and TTL. Click Save.6. Add the www CNAME
Click Add record again. Type CNAME, Namewww, Datasites.remobuilds.com. Click Save. If Squarespace says the record conflicts with existing records, click Replace record and confirm.7. Come back and check
Leave every MX or TXT row and the Email forwarding section alone: that's your email. Press Check my domain here. Squarespace says 24 to 48 hours, sometimes up to 72. Once live, cancel only the Squarespace WEBSITE plan (Billing → Subscriptions → website plan → Cancel subscription); the domain is a separate subscription: keep Auto-renew on.
Watch out
- Never delete or edit MX or TXT rows: that is your email. Leave an A row named mail alone too.
- Squarespace Defaults can't be edited row by row: the whole group is deleted. That disconnects the domain from the Squarespace site (and any PayPal payment links on it).
- Squarespace asks for your password or 2FA code on every add and delete; it can't be skipped.
- An active forwarding rule blocks DNS editing: remove it first.
- A CNAME can't have Name @, and a CNAME www can't coexist with a TXT www: choose Replace record when asked.
- Canceling the website before pointing the domain shows 'Website expired' to your visitors: point first.
I don't see Squarespace Defaults
Then the domain isn't connected to a Squarespace site: go straight to Custom Records and add the two records.
I bought it at Google Domains
It lives here now: sign in with Continue with Google. Authorization error? Click Can't log in, then Send verification email, open 'Verification email for Squarespace Domains', click Verify and set a password.
My domain isn't in the list
It's in another Squarespace account, usually under a different email: use Can't log in? to recover it.
Will my email stop?
No: Squarespace doesn't run your email. Google Workspace, Titan or Microsoft keep working as long as the MX and TXT rows stay.
