Upload your site: guides by host
The site you own is one flat zip: index.html at the top, one CSS file, your photos. These are the screens of each host; your account shows the same steps with your own file names.
Network Solutions
networksolutions.com → Log In → Websites & Hosting (or Hosting) → Manage → File Manager → public_html
1. Open the File Manager of your hosting package
Go to networksolutions.com and click Log In (Register.com customers sign in here too). Click Websites & Hosting in the left menu (on some accounts it just says Hosting), then Manage next to your hosting package, then File Manager (left menu, or under Most Popular Tools / FTP & Content Publishing). Openpublic_html(older packages:htdocs; Windows:www).2. Back up first
Select every file and folder and download them (or, over SFTP, drag the folder to your computer). NetSol's File Manager has no Compress button on every account.3. Move the old site out of the web folder
Click +New → New Folder (or New Item → Item Type Folder → Create Now), name itold-site. Select every other file and folder → Move → old-site → Move Here. If your File Manager has no Move, use the SFTP step.4. Upload the zip and extract it
Unzipyourbusiness-remo.zipon your computer. Inpublic_htmlclick Upload → Upload files (or Choose a file) → select the files at the top level → Upload. For each photo folder: create a folder with the same name, open it, Upload the photos. One file at a time? Switch to the SFTP step.5. SFTP (FileZilla), the faster way
SFTP & Content Publishing → SFTP Account Manager: copy the Host Address and Username, set a Password. In FileZilla: Host, Username, Password, Port 22 → Quickconnect. Openpublic_html, right-click → Download (your backup), createold-siteand drag the old files in, then drag everything from the unzipped Remo folder into public_html.6. Make sure index.html is the front page
Look in public_html for an oldindex.php,index.htm,default.htmlordefault.php. If one is still there, move it intoold-site: a server shows those beforeindex.html.public_html/index.htmlmust sit directly in public_html, not inside a folder.7. Open your site
Open https://yourbusiness.com in a private window and click a few menu links. If the old site still shows, press Ctrl+F5; if it still does, an oldindex.phporindex.htmis left in public_html (previous step).8. Keep the padlock (HTTPS)
If yourbusiness.com already opened with a padlock, it keeps it. Otherwise: Security → SSL Certificate → Manage → Launch SSL Control Panel (NetSol sells the certificate; no free one is documented). If the site opens ashttp://without the padlock, ask me in the chat for the three-line.htaccessredirect, or turn on your host's Force HTTPS switch.
Watch out
- The zip is flat: extract it IN the web folder and index.html lands at the root. If your panel created a folder with the site inside, open it, select all, Move to the web folder.
- An old index.php, index.htm or default.html left next to index.html wins: move it into old-site.
- Show Hidden Files before moving anything: a WordPress .htaccess left behind sends visitors to the old index.php.
- old-site belongs OUTSIDE the web folder (your home folder). Inside it, an old WordPress stays public and runnable.
- Never delete the old files: Compress → Download first, then Move. Moving them back undoes everything.
- Your email does not live in these folders; nothing here touches it. Do not cancel the old hosting if your email runs there (ask me).
- Two different File Managers exist at NetSol; the labels above cover both. Trust what you see.
- 100 MB per upload in one of them; 'For larger files, multiple files, or folders, use FTP'.
- Network Solutions' Website Builder takes no files (its File Manager is for images only).
I have the Website Builder, not a hosting package
The builder takes no files. A Web Hosting package here (these steps) or the hosted plan.
