Upload your site: guides by host
The site you own is one flat zip: index.html at the top, one CSS file, your photos. These are the screens of each host; your account shows the same steps with your own file names.
your web host
Hover manages your domain but hosts no websites; the files go to the company that hosts your site, or to a host you pick
1. Where the files cannot go
Hover manages your domain's DNS but does not host websites (Hover sells domains and email only). So the files go to the company that hosts your current site, if there is one, or to a web host you pick. Not sure who hosts it today? Ask me who hosts me in the chat.2. Pick a web host
Any host with a File Manager (cPanel, hPanel, Plesk) takes the folder. I have click-by-click steps for Namecheap, Hostinger, Bluehost, HostGator, SiteGround, DreamHost, hosting.com, GoDaddy, IONOS, Porkbun or Name.com. Tell me which one you pick and these steps change to its screens.3. Upload the zip and extract it
At that host: uploadyourbusiness-remo.zipinto its web folder and Extract it there. The zip is flat: index.html lands at the root.4. Point your domain at the new host
The host gives you an A record (an IP) or a CNAME: set them at Hover's DNS page for yourbusiness.com (the same two rows the hosted plan would use). Leave MX and TXT rows alone: that is your email.5. Open your site
Open https://yourbusiness.com in a private window and click a few menu links. If the old site still shows, press Ctrl+F5; if it still does, an oldindex.phporindex.htmis left in public_html (previous step).
Watch out
- Hover sells no web hosting: there is no File Manager to look for there.
- Keep MX and TXT rows at Hover untouched when you add the host's records.
